AFC Bournemouth football team dropped in to Poole Hospital’s children’s unit on Tuesday 18 December to bring some Christmas cheer to the patients. The local sports stars took a break from training to meet the children in the unit and hand out Christmas goodies, including toys and signed merchandise.

Penny Jarvis, Associate Director of Operations for Women’s and Children’s Health, said: “The Bournemouth AFC team are a brilliant bunch.  Each year they come into the wards to brighten the days of children who have to be in hospital in the run up to Christmas.

“Often these children miss out on the usual pre-Christmas activities of nativity plays and school parties, so it’s lovely for them to have something else to excite them at this time of year. A number of the nursing staff are also appreciative of having a bunch of good-looking young men visiting the ward as well! Many thanks to all of them.”
