Former members of much-loved local band The Slobs dropped in to Poole Hospital this month to hand over a cheque for almost £3,400. The money was raised at a fundraising concert organised by singer Sheila Casey following her own personal battle with breast cancer.

The Slobs got back together for one night only at a sell-out concert at Mr Kyps, and raised a total of £3,387 for the Poole Hospital Wish List. The money will be used to fund modernisation work in Tyneham Ward, a ward dedicated to patients suffering from cancer.

Sheila wanted to raise funds to help other cancer sufferers, after completing her own treatment earlier this year. She also wanted to do something to say ‘thank you’ for the care she received at Poole Hospital.

Sheila said: “I felt very humble and grateful. How do you repay those people?”
