The Britannia Pub in Ashley Cross has adopted Poole Hospital’s Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit as its chosen charity for 2007/08. The unit is close to the hearts of owners Michael and Sam Hicks; their own children both stayed in the unit when they were first born – son Michael for five weeks and daughter Georgina for one night.

To mark the start of the fundraising campaign, Michael and Sam handed over a cheque for £1000, which included money raised at this summer’s successful Party in the Park. The pub will continue to raise funds over the coming year through a range of activities, including a weekly ‘bonus ball’ competition, live acts, collection boxes and tickets for special events.

Sally House, Senior Sister at NICU, said: “We are delighted that the Britannia Pub will be raising money for NICU. The unit benefits enormously from the ongoing support we receive from the community; it helps us to provide the vital equipment needed to care for our sick and premature babies.”
