Poole Hospital says ‘thank you’ to NICU Knitters

The ‘NICU Knitters’ were honoured at a special tea party held earlier this
month.
Poole Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has honoured the lovely ladies who knit clothing for the babies on the unit at a special tea party, attended by 36 knitters.
The ‘NICU Knitters’ put a lot of time, effort and love into knitting tiny clothes for the sick and premature babies cared for on the unit. They produce a range of clothing including jackets, booties and special incubator bonnets that include holes for ventilator tubes. The clothing is either used within NICU or sold to families to raise funds for the unit.
Sally House, Senior Sister at NICU, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed pouring tea for these lovely ladies, who provide a valuable service to NICU.”
Minesh Khashu, Lead Consultant in Neonatology, said: “The NICU team appreciate that these gracious ladies are not just ‘knitting clothes’ for the babies, they are sowing seeds of caring for the ‘knit family’ that Poole Hospital hopes to be.”
