Your Breast Screening Appointment
As part of the National Breast Screening Service, every doctor's practice in the county will be screened every 3 years. When we screen your practice, if you are in the screening age group (aged 50 - 70) you will automatically receive an appointment, either to our static unit or, more commonly to a mobile unit. In either case it will be near to where you live. Appointments are usually sent out 3 weeks in advance.
Can I change my Appointment?
If the appointment that we send you is not convenient please ring our central
office on (01202) 665558 between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday to
change it. Our office staff are highly trained and will do their very
best to help you. They can also answer any queries you may have or direct
you to someone who can.
What if I cannot attend when the Unit is in my Area?
If, for whatever reason, you miss the screening when we are in your area,
you may ring the office who will make alternative arrangements for you.
This may mean travelling further to be screened or waiting until we have
a unit in your area, but it is still possible to accommodate you.
Technical Recall Appointments
If you are recalled because there is a technical fault with the film, you
will often be given an appointment where you were screened originally.
However, if that was on a mobile unit which has since moved, we may have
to repeat the X-ray at another venue.
Recall for Assessment Appointment
If you are recalled for further assessment, it will always be to our central
unit in Poole hospital, where our team of dedicated breast specialists
is based. The unit is equipped with sophisticated X-ray and ultrasound
equipment to afford you the very best service.
