Dorset Breast Screening Unit News

Programme Extension

We will be extending the breast screening programme to include all ladies aged from 47 to 73 (currently 50 to 70). We are waiting to hear from our national body as to when this will be implemented.

State of The Art Digital Equipment

The Dorset Breast Screening Unit has recently acquired state of the art digital equipment in the symptomatic “Ladybird” unit. This is at the forefront of new technology and allows for immediate viewing of and the ability to manipulate images by magnifying specific areas etc., which is very much the way forward for the future.

Evening Appointments

The unit is very much aware from feedback we receive from our clients that it is difficult for some women to attend for breast screening during working hours, as some employers are less than amenable to staff taking time off to attend such appointments.  Therefore to address this problem, we are now offering evening appointments, up to 7pm, on three evenings per week,  in a bid to improve the service and further increase uptake.  Any feedback about this would be appreciated. First Consultant Radiographer In South West Region

We are very happy to announce that we have just appointed Zebby Rees to join us as the first consultant radiographer in the South West Region.  She comes to us from “Breast Test Wales” where she currently performs clinical examinations, core biopsies and film reading as well as helping to run a symptomatic clinic. Zebby is proving to be a great asset to our current team.
