Written Information
There are many different forms of written information available to patients and carers attending the Cancer Centre. Information can be translated into other languages as requested.
Patient Held Information File
All patients attending the Cancer Centre for treatment are offered a file containing general information about the Centre and its facilities. Specific information about individual treatments is added as required.
Information Areas within the Cancer Centre
Each department in the Cancer Centre has an area where written information is displayed along with a poster explaining the information available. Please ask a member of staff where the posters are positioned.
The Health Information and Resource Centre at Poole Hospital
The Health Information Centre is a specialist department providing information about all forms of illness and treatments. The Centre is situated between the hospital car park and the Cancer Centre. The staffs have an extensive range of material to refer to and can help find answers to both the simple or very advanced questions patients and carers may have. The Centre has an informal and relaxed atmosphere and visitors are welcome to browse through the information themselves if they wish. For further details please contact the staff on 01202 448003.
Dorset Radiotherapy Helpline (DORAH)
Telephone 01202 442481
DORAH is a telephone advice service provided by the Cancer Centre for patients
receiving radiotherapy in Poole Hospital. All calls are recorded on the
answer phone and are answered within one working day by Radiographers who
will provide advice and information about radiotherapy.
