Dorset Endometriosis Centre
The management of endometriosis has developed significantly in recent years, with treatments available increasing markedly in complexity. This not only requires specialists with particular interest /training in these treatments but also complex, often very expensive equipment.
The Dorset Endometriosis Centre (DEC) is one of only sixteen ‘Centres of Excellence’ for the treatment of endometriosis in the UK, as certified by the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy.
To provide the best care to patients with endometriosis the DEC has:
- A designated weekly endometriosis clinic
- A multidisciplinary team approach, with specialist expertise in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological and colorectal surgery, specialist pain management and specialist radiology
- Access to the latest ‘state of the art’ equipment including a high-power carbon dioxide laser and high-definition digital videoscopic equipment.
The Dorset Endometriosis Centre clinic is run weekly on a Wednesday afternoon in Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Referral to the clinic can be made by general practitioners using the ‘choose and book’ system or by referral letter from other specialists.
