Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Radiology

Two radiologists examine an imagePoole Hospital's Radiology service offers a wide range of imaging examinations and includes the sub-specialities of Radionuclide Imaging, CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound and plain imaging (X-rays). We see patients referred from GP surgeries, hospital clinics, in-patient wards and from the accident and emergency department.

The department uses the latest digital technology for storing and distributing images known as PACS (Picture Archiving And Communications System). This means that virtually all images are stored electronically and can be viewed on computer screens anywhere in the hospital, eliminating the need to print film. The system was installed in November 2005 and has dramatically improved the efficiency of the department.
