Disabled access

There is a 'drop-off 'area at Entrance 10 of the Hospital - the waiting time is limited to 20 minutes. There are some disabled parking facilities for cars displaying disability badges/discs, including Entrance 11 (D Block) and the disabled car park near Entrances 7/ 8 (Courtyard Entrance).

Parking is free only for drivers of vehicles who receive both free road fund tax and display a disability disc.

Wheelchairs are available via a £1 refundable deposit at a variety of points in the car park and within the Hospital itself. A covered walkway leads from the multi-storey car park (Level G) to the main Hospital (Entrances 6 and 7/8).

Specialist Requirements

If you have any special requirements such as help with visual impairment, hearing, language or communication matters, please ask a member of staff for assistance or telephone the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS).

For deaf and hard of hearing people a Text Telephone is available in Emergency.

A Loop System is installed in the following areas: Main Reception (Entrance 10), Emergency Department, Health Information & Resource Centre (one–to-one), Pharmacy, Out-Patients Department and the Chapel. Sign Language Interpreters and Lip Speakers may also be available by prior arrangement. Personal Amplifier systems are available on loan in some wards and Emergency Department.
